INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY WEB SITE SCORES 10,000 HITS!
AUSTIN, TEXAS, (AUGUST 18, 1997) -- The information technology focused itmWEB site, http://www.itmweb.com, today reached the important milestone of 10,000 hits on the web site's home page. In addition, the overall total site traffic count reached 46,000 hits, based on independent LinkExchange statistical monitoring.
"Both of these numbers are important achievements for the site," stated itmWEB founder Russ Finney, who is Director of Information Systems at a large international high technology company. "It means that the word is finally getting out about the existence of the site. The fact that the page view ratio is almost one to five (1:5) hopefully means that site users are finding some useful content during their visit."
The itmWEB site contains tools and resources for information technology professionals. These range from systems development and computer programming papers, to project management and methodology references, to extensive pages of categorized technology links. "The ultimate goal for the site is to become one of the premium, independent IT resource destinations on the web," said Finney. "Getting the first 10,000 visits is the biggest struggle, so it is nice to have this phase complete. The goal now will be to keep providing useful, relevant IT subject content which will bring repeat visits from this newly established base of site awareness."
The itmWEB site has also received significant recognition from some of the better award sites on the Net. "These awards are from some of the more selective Web reviewers which is very gratifying," remarked Finney. "Hopefully, this recognition means that the site design and the content quality is at a level which reflects the serious nature of the site as an IT resource. Being located with 800,000 other homepages on the Geocities servers can make this credibility establishment a little more challenging."
What is the next target milestone for the itmWEB site?
"More papers, more links, more diagrams, more downloads, and more tools, and more promotion," stated Finney. "The site now has a solid IT content foundation, so the next objective will a continued focus on making the site one of the key resource choices for the IT practitioner."
